the subject says it all. the internet in my apartment went down mysteriously about 3 days ago. the icon in my system tray says the modem cannot resolve a dns address. after my roommate called the cable provider, we learned that we would not have internet back until june 8th. this happened at the absolute worst time too. why? let me tell you..
so i lost my job a little over a month ago, and i am in the process of filing for unemployment, but that is taking longer than expected, so i am selling all my non-essentials on craigslist. without the internet, it is damn near impossible for me to communicate with the people who are responding to my ads. i actually just signed up for a local library card and that is how i am accessing the internet right now. i am actually set up to sell my old video ipod tonight. yay for me!
so anyways, money hasn’t been plentiful lately. it doesn’t really bother us though. it sucks that you need money to live, because it certainly does not buy happiness. sure it may make some things easier, but i would be happy in a small room as long as i have my lovely girlfriend, my laptop, and an internet connection. oh wait, that’s what we already are doing. she is about to leave her job as well though so we are looking into government assisted living. i know the buildings that they have for couples are out of this world, so we are going to try to take advantage of that so we have some time to just relax, readjust, get new jobs, and we both plan on going back to college next year. her, for her masters in musical theory and me for my associates or bachelors in liberal arts. i don’t really want my degree to limit me to one thing, so liberal arts seems the best.
enough rambling. i am done for now.

woah, it’s been a while…
i just want to say that a lot has changed since the last time i was writing on here. i left my job because i went into a serious bout of depression. i have always suffered from social anxiety and the awkwardness i felt while at work sent me into a period of depression where i couldn’t even bring myself to leave the bed really. now i am in the process of trying to find more work. something where i won’t be dealing with people as much as i was at hollister.
i’m going to keep this thing up to date from now on. i think writing would help me a great deal so expect to see updates more often. i’ll start with a some background information about my life in my next entry. until then, peace and love (:
Well, I started playing World of Warcraft again. I was a big WoW player a few years ago, and since I got a laptop for Christmas I decided to start playing again. I gotta admit, I missed it. It’s hard for me to get into a video game these days but the leveling and rewards system in WoW keeps me playing day after day. I find it a lot easier to stop playing now, though. Maybe because I have a job? Or because I have things to do on certain mornings and I cannot stay up all night playing like I used to? Or maybe because I have a girl that I love by my side and keeping her happy is more important to me than playing a MMORPG? I don’t know, but I definitely still enjoy playing it, and my lovely girlfriend supports the nerd in me and doesn’t mind me playing it.
I have been responding to ads on Craigslist over the past week or so looking for some work, though I think my lack of a degree is keeping employers from hiring me. If someone would just take the chance and hire me, they would see that my work and work ethic speaks for itself and a degree is nothing but a piece of paper. That aside, I still need to start looking into finding a school to attend in the Fall of 2010. I wouldn’t mind just getting my Associates Degree as of now, and then working towards my Bachelors. Anyway, if you are an employer and happen to be reading this, please don’t let my lack of degree deter you from hiring me for a project of yours. My work is extremely professional and I have a very dedicated work ethic and I can assure that you will not regret hiring me.
That’s all for now. I have work tonight, and I am going to walk my sweetheart to her job in a few minutes. Until my next update, see ya :]
her eyes
deep and dark
pools of ink
locked and gazing at me
her lips
full and luscious
wet to the touch
wrapped around my own
her hair
long and dark
naturally in curls
caressing her sweet face
my love
beautiful
inside and out
forever in my heart
Well, my mother got me a new laptop for Christmas, so now I don’t have to hi-jack my love’s anymore. The only thing that sucks is it has an integrated video card, so I have to look into seeing if I can personally customize the computer and add a new video card myself. As for the other specs, it has a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of DDR2 memory, and a shitty integrated video card.
Well, that’s all. I am currently in the process of installing all of my programs onto my new computer so I will update again in the new year! Hooray!
I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I will be spending the holiday with my mother, her husband, and my lovely girlfriend. I hope everyone out there has someone special to spend their holiday with as well, and if you don’t, well, make the best out of your situation.
The next time I update this thing it will be 2010 so I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year as well! My love and I have some wonderful plans for New Years Eve so I hope everyone else will have as wonderful a time as we plan on having.
So until the new year, take care everyone!
If you haven’t noticed yet, I re-designed the website. The new design is much more professional looking, and also gives me a lot more room to customize. The site is basically a place for clients to view my portfolio, learn a little bit about myself, and then choose a way to contact me if they feel that I am right for the kind of work they are looking for.
It’s also almost Christmas, and NY just got hit with a huge blizzard, so I would like to wish any of the visitors here a happy holiday, whether you are celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or anything really. I’d also like to extend a Happy New Year to everyone as well since I probably will not be writing in this thing again until 2010. I know my plans for new years eve are set, so hopefully you all have somewhere fun to go. Good luck with all your new years resolutions as well! Mine is to quit smoking. We will see how well that goes.
Until next time, enjoy browsing the newly designed site and feel free to contact me if you are in need of any work.
Okay, just a few quick updates before I head out to eat some lunch with my love. The Information section is now up. It contains everything you need to know about me, and if I forgot anything, I included buttons to each of my online profiles. Between all 6 of those sites, you should be able to find out all you really need to know about me. If you click the button on the main page it opens in a small pop-up window.
I also put up the portfolio, but it is still under construction. This is not how the portfolio is going to look when it is finished. I just thought I would touch it up a bit because having a portfolio as a base directory with no index file is extremely unprofessional and I am not trying to give that impression. Who would? The portfolio should take on a new look before the new year.
Also, if you’re looking for help with a web-design at NO COST AT ALL, send me an email! I am serious. I am trying to expand my portfolio and I am willing to work on any kind of web-design or artwork that is needed. Drop me a line on AIM also @ skinnylegjeanz. I will not charge a thing. I would actually consider it a favor on your part because I desperately need to expand my portfolio.
That’s all. I’m off to lunch with the love.
Okay, for the most part, the site is up. The design is very minimal and that is how I want it. This site is supposed to be a place to catalog my artwork, write about whatever I want, and give the readers and clients a little information about myself as well as a copy of my resume.
On the main page, there are three sections. My log, portfolio, and an ‘about me’ section. The portfolio is still under construction, as is the information page. I am also in the process of adding links to my Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and the lot of online profiles I have. That should be up by Thanksgiving. As for the portfolio and information sections, expect that to be up sometime before December.
Well, that’s about it. If I don’t write again before Thursday, I hope that anyone reading this has a great Thanksgiving. I will be celebrating the holiday twice this year. On Wednesday, my love and I will be hosting our own little Thanksgiving and then on Thursday we will each be spending the true holiday with our given families. I’ll be chowing down on some authentic turkey, while she, being the sexy little vegetarian that she is, will be eating tofurkey with the rest of her vegan family. The same holiday celebrated in two very different ways.
Welcome to my personal blog. This is going to be a place for me to share my opinions, views, stories, poems, art, or basically, anything I want. You are currently viewing just one part of my personal web-site, that being the blog. Here I will write about my life, be it the past, present, or future. I will also share my opinions on various music, movies, video games, books, or anything that peeks my interest.
Now, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a 22 year old male currently residing in the big apple, or New York City. I moved here in the beginning of 2009 from New Jersey. NJ was beginning to consume me in many ways and I needed an escape so I hopped on the train and came to New York and I could not be happier with that decision. While in New Jersey, I was an unemployed, single, depressed 21 year old with no hopes or aspirations, but since coming here I found a good paying place of employment, a loving girlfriend whom I care for and will (hopefully) be living with very soon, and I also found a new desire to pursue my career as a aspiring digital artist or web-designer.
I have been involved with digital art for about 10 years or so. I started to dabble in it when I was about 13 years old, and over the years I have taught myself a lot. I have a good feel for Adobe Photoshop & Imageready and coding HTML. I am trying to broaden my knowledge by learning how to code PHP and use Adobe Illustrator. In order to accomplish that, I plan on attending school in the fall of 2010 and majoring in Graphic Design. That is the one thing holding me back from achieving my goal of obtaining a career as a successful artist or web-designer, that being my lack of a degree. I hope to obtain that in the coming years and establish myself in the web-design industry by creating and maintaining my very own design firm. A name for that design firm is still undetermined, so this web-site could be considered the very beginning of my lifelong dream.
My resume can be downloaded by clicking here, and you can also view my portfolio at DeviantART by clicking right here. I also have a portfolio of previous web-sites I have designed which you can find here also. There is not much to it right now, since when I was young I was not concerned about cataloging all my artwork. I am looking to add more to my portfolio though, so if you are reading this and in need of a logo, web-site design, or any kind of digital artwork, feel free to contact me. There would be no charge as I am simply just trying to expand my portfolio. All I ask is for a link back to this web-site in return for my work. If you are interested, do not be afraid to contact me. My AIM screen name is skinny leg jeanz or you can e-mail me at dszoke87[at]gmail.com.
Well, that’s all for now. I hope you decide to come back and watch this web-site grow as the days go by. Until next time, take care.
